Custom Fine Jewelry Design – Katey Walker Fine Jewelry
We love to create unique & custom handcrafted fine jewelry! Whether it be custom engagement & bridal jewelry, a custom headpiece, or a gift to a loved on to commemorate a special occasion! Custom Fine Jewelry Process
The custom process with Katey Walker Jewelry is special and collaborative, creating bespoke, heirloom pieces. You can select custom stones or we can repurpose gemstones from your existing pieces into new, exquisite designs.
Getting Started:
Share your preferences, including any previous pieces you loved, settings, stone colors, types, and cuts. A detailed vision board is always helpful! We’ll provide price ranges and start sourcing stones for your viewing!
After Stone Selection:
If it’s a true custom piece, we’ll hand-sketch the design for your approval.
In-Person and Virtual Consultations:
Local clients can visit Katey's open studio and shop at 103 Main St. in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Out-of-state clients will meet Virtually on zoom or through email and receive images and videos of stones and sketches.
Resetting Existing Stones:
We can source stones for you to choose from or repurpose and redesign using existing gemstones from your pieces. Please provide clear images and any details (certificates, appraisals) of the existing piece. We’ll discuss preferences and give you price ranges.
Redesigning Existing Fine Jewelry & Gold Buying:
When redesigning existing pieces an assessment will be made after viewing your unwanted or broken jewelry. We are happy offer a gold credit toward the new piece you wish to create, or buy the gold and issue you a check.
Pricing:
We begin custom design with a $500 design fee that includes up to 2 alterations. Upon finalizing the design, a determination on price is made and a 50% deposit is required upon agreement. Your $500 design fee will be credited to the deposit when you move forward. The balance for the piece is due upon completion.
Timeline for Production:
The entire process of jewelry redesign and custom production takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks. Each special one-of-a-kind piece of custom fine jewelry is started from sourcing gemstone material from the finest gemstone and diamond sources in the country and possibly even custom cutting of gemstones. A custom fine jewelry design is then hand sketched by Katey and once approved will be handcrafted at her jewelry bench at her store and studio, 103 Main St. Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
